How customer issues are broken down and handled

The following cases cover turbocharger retrofit verification, governor testing and calibration, spare parts support and turbocharger upgrade examples, showing our assessment basis and execution path under different project conditions.

RH163 turbocharger rotor placed on the dynamic balancing bench

Case One

RH163 turbocharger retrofit and operating verification

Case One

RH163 turbocharger retrofit and operating verification

This project focused on the RH163 turbocharger of LBS vessel auxiliary engine No. 2, forming a complete chain from issue assessment and spare parts matching to rotor dynamic balancing and onboard verification.

Issue

The engine showed insufficient scavenge pressure, low intake air volume and high exhaust temperature. The project needed to determine whether RH163 turbocharger matching and retrofit could improve air supply capacity.

Challenge

The work had to address wear in old components and the fit between casing, rotor and seals, while completing spare parts confirmation, rotor balancing and post-installation verification within the vessel schedule.

Solution

SHENGDA completed disassembly, key spare parts replacement, rotor dynamic balancing and onboard commissioning. After repair, the relevant pressure readings returned to the expected operating range, and the equipment condition improved significantly.

Marine governor test bench used for testing and adjustment

Case Two

Marine governor inspection, testing and calibration

Case Two

Marine governor inspection, testing and calibration

For unstable governor operation, reduced governing accuracy or post-repair confirmation needs, we provide inspection, repair, bench testing, calibration and common repair-kit coordination.

Issue

When customers face unstable governor response, reduced governing accuracy or lack of post-repair test confirmation, oil pressure, speed signal, actuator movement and setting curve reliability must be confirmed before delivery.

Challenge

Different governor brands and models use different structures, oil pressure conditions and test parameters. Replacing parts without bench verification can still lead to onboard speed fluctuation or abnormal load response.

Solution

After disassembly inspection and necessary parts replacement, the test bench confirms oil pressure, speed, output travel and response condition. For projects requiring OEM repair kits, common Woodward, NZ61 and related parts are coordinated in parallel.

Turbocharger balancing and service equipment prepared for project support

Case Three

Turbocharger spare parts and exchange-unit support

Case Three

Turbocharger spare parts and exchange-unit support

When vessel schedule is tight, equipment models are complex or the repair window is limited, we help customers confirm spare parts paths, exchange-unit options and workshop repair arrangements.

Issue

With short port stays, customers often need to quickly judge whether repair or replacement can be arranged before model, spare parts condition and arrival time are fully clear.

Challenge

Turbocharger brands and models cover a wide range. Parts may include complete units, rotor assemblies, bearings, nozzle rings, sealing bushes and repair kits. Incorrect matching directly affects repair lead time and onboard installation risk.

Solution

Equipment nameplates, models, serial numbers and site photos are checked first, then inventory, common parts or exchange units are coordinated according to the repair plan. For workshop repair, disassembly, cleaning, measurement, dynamic balancing and assembly inspection are arranged in parallel.

Case Four

Turbocharger upgrade and improvement project examples

Parts and component preparation for IHI RH163, ABB A135-M65 and ABB VTR184P-11 projects.

Case Four

Turbocharger upgrade and improvement project examples

IHI RH163, ABB A135-M65 and ABB VTR184P-11 are grouped as one focused project theme, showing shared assessment points and execution priorities across different turbocharger upgrade projects.

IHI RH163

For air-supply loss, changing operating parameters and worn old components, the focus is disassembly findings, rotor balancing and onboard operating review.

ABB A135-M65

The focus is model confirmation, casing condition, rotor assembly, bearing and sealing-part matching to avoid vibration, leakage or insufficient efficiency after installation.

ABB VTR184P-11

The plan combines spare parts preparation, rotor component treatment and onboard installation-window coordination, with model, serial number and parts path confirmed in advance.
